Coconut milk makes a creamy hot chocolate without any dairy. Plant protein stirs in more smoothly than whey when the liquid is hot, though you should still mix it with a little cool liquid first.
Ingredients
Makes 1 serving.
- 1 scoop chocolate plant protein powder (pea/rice blend, about 32 g)
- ½ cup light canned coconut milk
- ¾ cup unsweetened coconut milk beverage
- 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tbsp pure maple syrup
- ¼ tsp vanilla extract
- 1 pinch salt
Method
- Whisk the protein powder and cocoa with a quarter cup of cold coconut beverage until smooth.
- Warm the coconut milk and remaining beverage in a pan until steaming, around 150°F (65°C).
- Pour the warm liquid into the paste, whisking.
- Stir in the maple syrup, vanilla, and salt. Top with shredded coconut.
