Turmeric has an earthy, slightly bitter taste that mango covers well. A pinch of black pepper helps the body absorb curcumin, the compound in turmeric, but it is optional. The color is the main attraction.
Ingredients
Makes 1 serving.
- 1 scoop vanilla plant protein powder (pea/rice blend, about 32 g)
- 1 cup frozen mango chunks
- 1 cup unsweetened coconut milk beverage
- ½ tsp ground turmeric
- ½ tsp fresh ginger, grated
- 1 tbsp lime juice
- 2 ice cubes
Method
- Add the coconut beverage, protein powder, turmeric, ginger, and lime juice to the blender.

- Blend on high for a full minute, until smooth.
- Taste. Add another tablespoon of mango if the turmeric stands out too much.

Tips
- Turmeric stains. Wipe spills right away and rinse the blender soon after.
- Use less turmeric the first time. The flavor builds as the shake sits.
Swaps and variations
- Add a pinch of ground black pepper.
- Use whey vanilla if you do not need the shake to be vegan.
